RobotWars

With the amount that we are spending on the military, would it really be that much more expensive to create machines to take the place of humans in war situations (well I guess the answer is yes since we haven't started yet)? But it seems like the logical next step until our brains evolve to the point that we can stop using violence to solve problems.

SmartClothes

Does anyone have an idea of how clothing could be made to gauge your body temperature and adjust to you like a thermostat? Kind of like transitions eye wear (such a cool invention), depending on the subtlety of the environment, at any time, it adjusts.

Free WebCollege

College degrees should be free and available online to anyone. A poll could be done by colleges and universities all around the country to determine what the most pertinent subjects are for people to master in the current world we live in. I could imagine such important subjects as computer programming and applications, blogging/podcasting, business, sales and marketing, economics, history and current events, writing standards such as resumes and cover letters. Projects for the classes could be life-like job situations and real world problem solving where designing and creating are most important (instead of spitting back facts). It would be a place where anyone in the world would have access to a basic real world up to date education. People could use it for knowledge growth or for certification to post on resumes. If anyone else is interested in this idea, let me know, I would love to be involved in it!

Disintegrating Material

Wouldn't be great if all products were built with a shelf life, and when the shelf life was up products would start to deteriorate and disintegrate? We have biodegradable plastic, so why not make it mandatory for such daily disposables as food wrappers and containers? Packaging material doesn't need to be toxic. Larger items such as stereos and tvs, other electronics and appliances could be reused for some parts, while other components that could not be reused would be made of a non-toxic disintegrating material.

For Women Only

As a woman, I would like to see a product once and for all be able to solve the problem of unwanted body hair. Isn't someone for the love of god able to come up with something that you can quickly, painlessly apply to unwanted hair, removing it forever?

Next, I'm thinking that a good idea for a product would be a lotion/soothing oil for private areas of the body that is non-toxic, moisturizing, and smells and tastes great. We could choose from such flavors/scents as strawberry, watermelon, chocolate, etc. People could have a distinctive scent/flavor they wear everyday similar to the way people wear perfume. I'm not talking about a lubricant, I'm speaking of a non-sticky lotion/oil that is healthy and beneficial to your skin and sensitive areas.

Magic Pills

Wouldn't it be nice if sunscreen was in pill form? It's so greasy and slimy, not to mention smells really bad. Ahh, how convenient that would be!

While on the subject of pills, I wonder if someone could develop a pill that when taken helps to neutralize the order of fecal matter and gas. Wow, that would really help make the world a better place.

Stamped Envelopes

Isn't it annoying to go to the post office for one stamp? We should be able to go to our local Walgreens/CVS and buy envelopes with postage already on them. Same with cards, Hallmark should give us an option for envelopes with or without postage.

Plant Pests for Profit

Why isn't Portland the blackberry capital of the world? Why not turn a weed/pest into profit? Instead of chopping down all those blackberry bushes that overrun the parks they should be harvesting in great quantities for jams, pies, expensive frozen berries found at WholeFoods, etc. Portland could also export all that pesky ivy to florists and nurseries around the world.

Healthy Food Dispensers

It would be nice if we could walk down the street, go to a food dispenser kiosk, put in a few quarters and get a bag of say fresh carrot sticks or apples in a biodegradable plastic bag. We should be to the point in our civilization where we should be able to get cheap, quick, convenient, basic raw food just about anywhere in a city or large town. It doesn't have to be limited to raw fruits and veggies, but it would be nice if it were healthy, "real" food. These dispensers needn't be unsightly at all and they don't need to be on every corner, just here and there, just in case we humans need a little quick snack.

TVs on the Street

Ok, so I know in some large cities you can look up on certain streets and see large TV screens (I'm thinking about NYC) but why do we not have TVs set up the way that newspaper stands/dispensers are set up around town (you know, all clumped together facing in all directions on the street)? People could walk by and see the headlines (no sound of course). Seems that there could be a lot of money to be made in advertising.

Wrinkly Clothes

I have to say, I really like the look of faded and wrinkly clothes, for casual-wear of course. It gives a garment a lot of texture and personality. Now, I have seen a few shirts in stores in the past that are made purposefully wrinkly, but I think we need to branch out to pants (especially corduroys) and perhaps dresses. I'd like to see a new wrinkly clothing fashion trend.

Phone in Presidential Votes/ Reality TV Show

It would be nice if we could either phone in or text in our votes for Presidential Elections. It seems that we would have much better voter turn out since just about everyone has a phone and people would not have an excuse of being too busy to get to a polling station. We could get rid of the archaic system we have that seems to generate so many errors. If it works for American Idol, it should work even better for politics. They could set it up so that we could use our SS numbers to cast our votes.

On another note, we need a reality TV show about the daily lives/campaigns of our Presidential candidates right before election time. We'd get to know the candidates as "real" people outside of speeches and debates. I think ultimately it would be better for their campaigns and it could potentially be very entertaining.
